Morven Park’s “Local Leaders” speaker series recognizes active local leaders and provides an opportunity to meet and be inspired by those making real and measurable change in our community. Speakers will describe the paths they took to their current roles and the challenges faced along the way, followed by discussion of related needs in our community and ideas for addressing them.
Doug FabbioliDoug Fabbioli, co-founder and winemaker, Fabbioli Cellars, also founded the Piedmont Epicurean and Agricultural Council. Fabbioli has long been involved in community education, based on his dedication to sustainable agriculture and rural economic development.

Princess & Knight Parade
Dress in your regal best for Morven Park’s Princess & Knight Parade in the Winmill Carriage Museum. Learn about the carriages that are fit for royalty, meet some horses, have a photo taken in the carriage once used by Princess Grace, compete in a costume contest and parade to Morven Park’s “castle,” the Gov. Davis Mansion. Join the royal tea on the portico, complete with etiquette lessons and delicious treats. $10/child; $5/adult.

Ecology of Colonial Virginia
What did Loudoun County look like in early 1700s? Historical Ecologist Emily Southgate will explain how ecologists use 18th Century documents and fossils to reconstruct past landscapes, with examples specific to Loudoun County. After the presentation, she will lead a walk at Morven Park to point out remnants of past land uses that are still visible today. Register at www.loudounwildlife.org. Free admission.

March to Gettysburg
During the last week of June, Civil War living historians will recreate the Union Army’s march from Fairfax, Va., to Gettysburg, Pa., exactly 150 years after the movement took place. Join these living historians during their stop at Morven Park and experience what life was like for the soldiers. Engage in conversations, watch demonstrations and listen to the stories of the soldiers who made history during the Gettysburg Campaign.  For more detail go to www.morvenpark.org. Join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy for a free family nature walk. We will explore fields, gardens, forests and wetlands of Morven Park as we look for butterflies, birds, amphibians and other wildlife. We suggest you bring binoculars, if you have them. CarriageFest
A day devoted to the charms of coaches, buggies, and carriages. Enjoy the pastoral scenery and picturesque sights of horse-drawn vehicles maneuvering through Morven Park’s 1,100 acres. Meet carriage drivers of today, then see the vast variety of historic vehicles contained in the Winmill Carriage Museum. You can even take your own ride in a carriage and enter a period clothing contest. Free admission. Carriage rides $10/person.

As night falls, discover the wildlife that ventures out after dark at Morven Park! We'll stroll a field, check some ponds, and hike a short trail into the woods. Let's Count Butterflies!
Take part in the 17th Annual Central Loudoun Butterfly Count. A team organized by Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy will focus on finding and identifying butterflies at Morven Park. No experience necessary; all ages welcome. $3 for age 18 and up; free for Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy members. Ag in the Classroom
Join Agriculture in the Classroom for a hands-on professional development workshop featuring cross-curricular lessons from AITC’s latest resources – “Jump Start Your School Garden.”  The workshop is intended to help elementary teachers integrate the use of the garden – whether an outdoor school garden or an indoor container garden – into daily curriculum.  Workshop participants will take part in interactive lessons and create unique make-and-takes.  Subjects covered will include math, science, and language arts.  Additionally, all teachers will receive a resource kit for their classrooms including a copy of this latest curriculum.
