The Future Morven Park
Morven Park’s “reason for being” is to preserve and promote the ideals demonstrated by Westmoreland Davis, governor of Virginia from 1918 to 1922. But without people with whom we can share those ideals, our responsibilities are unfulfilled. We at Morven Park would like nothing more than to have throngs of people visit us each day. The newly unveiled master site plan provides a “roadmap” to make that happen.
The plan – parts of which will be implemented right away, and others of which might take 10 years or more – will offer opportunities for increased access and public participation.
Future visitors to Morven Park will start their journey at a new visitors center, facing a small lake fronting Route 15. They can choose one route to find the new sports fields, another to arrive at the new barns and arenas of the equestrian facilities, or yet another to wind their way to the Gov. Davis Mansion, an educational farm, a Coach House Discovery Center, restored gardens, and miles of separate trails for hikers, equestrians, and bicyclists. (Click above map to enlarge.)
We want Morven Park to be a source of pride for all of Virginia. We hope you will visit often to wander the grounds, attend a workshop, ride a horse, or celebrate a special event. And watch the progress as the master plan becomes reality through the coming years.
