Fighting & Frolicking:
The Civil War Comes to Morven Park

Saturdays, April 19th, May 17th & June 21st

Confederate soldiers spent the winter of 1861-62 in camp at Morven Park following the nearby Battle at Ball’s Bluff the previous October. This living history program at recreated log hut includes musket firing demonstrations, cooking over an open fire, and military drilling; Leesburg civilians and Confederate soldiers will be on hand to greet you;

1918: World War I and the Home Front –
Saturdays, April 26th & June 28th
11AM – 4PM


Join Governor and Mrs. Davis and other Virginians reminiscing about life on the home front during the First World War, the trials they faced, and the efforts they made to lead the state through war time;


 

 

Travel through Time:
The Winmill Carriage Collection Museum at Morven Park

Sundays, April 6th through June 29th
1 PM – 4PM


Named for Viola Winmill of Warrenton, the museum includes an incredible variety of horse-drawn vehicles from the mid-19th and early-20th centuries, including buggies, coaches, a fire engine, and a hearse.

 


From Swann’s Castle to Governor’s Mansion Exploring an Old Southern Estate
Fridays and Mondays, April 4th through June 30th
Saturdays, April 5th & 12th, May 3rd & June 7th

11AM – 4PM

Learn of the transition of the 19th century plantation of Thomas Swann, Jr., Governor of Maryland, into the early 20th century farm and hunt-country estate of Virginia Governor Westmoreland Davis; guided tour includes a look at the exterior of the Greek Revival mansion (under extensive restoration), exhibits, gardens, carriage collection, and Civil War sites.

15th Annual Potomac Celtic Festival

The 2008 festival includes music and dance from many local favorites, Celtic crafters and specialty import vendors, Living History reenactments, storytelling, workshops, children’s activities and crafts, food and drink, the authentic pub tent, and all of the family-fun that has become synonymous with PCF!

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR VISIT TO
MORVEN PARK

We at Morven Park hope that each and every visitor enjoys his or her time with us. In order to make the most of your visit; please consider the following suggestions.

The Winmill Carriage Collection and the Garden and Grounds are open and available during tour hours.

After you drive down the mile long driveway, park in the Coach House Visitor Center parking lot and proceed to the Visitor Center. Your guide will greet you there and begin your tour. If you wish, the boxwood gardens are open for tour when our main gate is open, and you may spend time there before or after a tour. Please note that the grounds close by 6pm. The area immediately surrounding the mansion is closed to the public during restoration.

Picnic tables are also available on site near the main parking lot. PLEASE dispose of your trash in receptacles that are provided and DO NOT FEED ANY ANIMALS. Also you should be aware that Morven Park is a large 1200-acre property and we ask that you limit your exploration to designated areas only.

Advanced registration of at least 24 hours notice is necessary for weekday tours. Weekend tours are run on regular schedules, visitors may drop-by to be included.

We're sorry, Morven Park does not offer wedding ceremonies or wedding receptions. Please visit the Loudoun Convention and Visitors Association for locations of local wedding reception sites.
